The Alvis - Round 1 / The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

From the loading screen of the Alvi family, we learn: Young Miraj wishes that his teen-age brother would stop giving their dad such a hard time. Is there some way he can help the two make ammends?

This is quite a contrast to the Altos that I just played who live in the huge mansion on the hill.  Unfortunately, no one is home right now at the Alvi house, which makes it difficult to play their house.

Photobucket

The Alvi family consists of Iqbal and his two sons VJ and Miraj.  What happened to the mother?  We learn from Iqbal's bio: The father of two boys, Iqbal's wife left unexpectedly one day, leaving him to raise his sons alone.  He wants only the best for them, but one son is a rebel who tests his patience.  Can he raise his sons and find love again?

Photobucket

VJ and Miraq are in school until 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Community School for the Gifted.

Photobucket

Iqbal works at Doo Peas Corporate Tower as a Report Processor and doesn't get off work until 2 p.m.  His boss there is Gunther Goth.

Photobucket

But because he is very hungry, has no career-related wishes, and I'm really bored, he decided to leave work very early today.

Photobucket

Unfortunately, he only got paid §25, and his work performance is going to suffer quite a bit.

Photobucket

I watched for him to come out of the front of the office building, but he sneaked out the back.  I barely got a picture of him as he went in to eat at the diner.  I hoped it would cheer him up, but I don't know why it takes so long for sims to eat at the diner.

Photobucket

Anyway, while I'm waiting for him to finish eating, I'll tell you a little more about him.  Except for angling, he seems pretty disadvantaged in the personality department.  He loves Latin music, cookies, and the color blue.

Photobucket

When he finally came out of the restaurant, it was out the back door, so I didn't know he came out.  I found him back there upset about something.

Photobucket

Iqbal's lifetime wish is Presenting the Perfect Aquarium.  He wants to have at least 13 different species of fish in fishbowls.  That sounds like a lot of work, but maybe it's possible.

Photobucket

I figured since it was close by, he could start fishing in Central Park.

Photobucket

It does help that one of his traits is Angler, which means that hopefully this lifetime wish of his will be a little easier for him to achieve.

Photobucket

So here he is fishing....

Photobucket

And he was able to quickly bring his fishing skill up to level 2.

Photobucket

He was joined by another fisherman, Christopher Steel.

Photobucket

Iqbal decided to talk to him about fishing, but apparently talking about fishing is boring.

Photobucket

Photobucket

They did chat for a little while, though, and he was able to learn a couple of Christopher's traits: Natural Cook and Friendly.

Photobucket

After that, he headed over to the bookstore to buy this book on fish bait.

Photobucket

By that time, VJ was getting out of school and wanted to head over to the Bunch's house with his friend Lisa Bunch.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Iqbal was surprisingly happy by now, with some good moodlets.  Skipping work to fish had to be very fun for him.

Photobucket

At the Bunch's house, I checked on VJ.  He was out on their front porch checking himself out in the mirror.  I guess he wanted to make sure all of his spikes were in perfect alignment before putting the moves on Lisa..

Photobucket

VJ has no good traits.  He loves Indie music, sushi, and the color red.  His bio reads: VJ is a troubled teen.  He blames his dad for his mom leaving.  He doesn't have any aspirations in life and is a horrible student.  He spends his time inventing new ways to torment his father.

Photobucket

Iqbal hung out for awhile in front of the bookstore reading a book.

Photobucket

He decided to talk to this woman, Claire Ursine who looks like she might be as desperate as he is.

Photobucket

Claire is apparently a criminal.

Photobucket

Meanwhile, poor Miraj is home alone.  I guess the social worker is less strict in Sims 3.  Miraj is a very good boy, who instead of getting into trouble, does his homework while waiting for his father and brother to return.

Photobucket

As I said, Miraj is a good boy.  He has a good personality.  He likes kid's music, pancakes, and the color seafoam. His bio reads: Miraj has aspirations in life, unlike his brother.  He gets along well with both his brother and his father and is the mediator in the family.  He wants a career someday in law enforcement.

Photobucket

VJ really likes Lisa Bunch, and she really likes him too.  It only took one flirty joke from VJ...

Photobucket

And she was grabbing him and kissing him.

Photobucket

Iqbal sat down and read some more while Miraj dutifully finished his homework.

Photobucket

Iqbal also had a wish to watch TV.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

All these fantastic moodlets from his time with Lisa are keeping VJ happy, so he has no need to vex his father tonight.

Photobucket

Miraj made himself a dinner of cereal, while VJ cooked himself some macaroni and cheese.

Photobucket

*Yawn* Iqbal and Miraj are starting to get rather boring.  Iqbal is reading his book about bait so that he can work on catching those perfect fish.

Photobucket

He soon knew the best bait for catching minnows and anchovies.

Photobucket

I find it surprising that apples and tomatoes are good bait for catching fish.

Photobucket

All that reading about fishing made Iqbal want to fish some more.  He went across the street and fished at the pond behind the vacant house.

Photobucket

Meanwhile, VJ had invited Lisa Bunch over for one last makeout session.

Photobucket

Whoa, wait a minute!  What's going on you two?

Photobucket

Oh right, this is sims.  Only sim boys get too tired to make out anymore.

Photobucket

Lisa decided to take a little nap on Miraj's bed, but soon headed back to her own house.

Photobucket

Miraj was very tired by this point.  It was after midnight, but he wanted to swing for a bit before going to bed.

Photobucket

By the time Iqbal dragged himself away from fishing, he was starving again.  He tried to make himself macaroni and cheese, but burnt it.  He had to eat it anyway, as he was too tired to cook anything else.

Photobucket

And then he went into his bedroom and completely freaked out about something.  I'm not really sure what it was, but he always feels better after he freaks out.

Photobucket

I think it's weird that freaking out helps him feel tranquil afterward.

Photobucket

I hope I remember this in next round so he can have a cake, unless of course time continues to progress and he ages while we're away.  I hope not, as that is the point of trying out this neighborhood in a rotation play style.

Photobucket

Iqbal's carpool arrived at 7 a.m., and he took off for work.  At least today he's in a better mood, and full of burnt macaroni and cheese.  I have to make sure to make it to the next house before 8 a.m. in hopes that the next family won't be all away at school and work yet.

Photobucket

VJ looks like he might want to talk to his father, but he missed his chance.  I guess they can argue later.

Photobucket

VJ wanted a job, and there were 3 jobs available when he checked the newspaper.  I couldn't see him working in the bookstore or folding towels at the spa.  I figured he might be able to serve beverages.  I don't know... I wouldn't hire him with that hair.

Photobucket

Miraj chooses some juice for his breakfast.

Photobucket

And so we will now leave VJ outside in his underwear, as he makes a futile attempt to get his homework done before the bus arrives.  I doubt he has time, and I also wonder if the kids on the bus will tease him when they see him in his skivvies.  I guess we'll find out next time maybe, unless when we come back he's all grown up.

  2. Thanks Nonikk! I don't feel that Sunset Valley is as fun as Apple Grove yet, but I do find it interesting. It's a fun experiment for me. Thanks so much for being my first follower. It made my day. :)

  3. Yeah! Your comments totally remind me of my puzzlement about this new breed of Sims when they first arrived :)
